The Public Works Department in Carson City, Nevada is saving time and money by using a drone to survey county assets. The city used their newly acquired drone to survey material piles, inspect solar panels and monitor the progress of Carson’s new wastewater treatment plant.
City workers are loving the drone so far with James Jacklett, an Operations Manager for the Carson City Public Works Department, saying, “We are able to survey large areas of, for instance, 50 acres, in approximately 12 minutes, followed up with less than an hour of office time, and come up with a results that historically would have taken days with people in the field surveying to acquire.”
The team at Drone Dossier thinks it is only a matter of time before more cities take the lead of Carson City. While privacy concerns will remain, the fact that drones will help a city’s budgeting concerns by saving both time and money will win out in the end.
