Airbus, one of the largest aircraft manufacturers in the world, is getting into the transportation drone business with its plans to reveal a prototype for a flying autonomous car (drone!) by the end of the year.
The project is part of Airbus’ ‘Urban Air Mobility’ division which is looking into new ways to make transport better in urban areas.
“One hundred years ago, urban transport went underground, now we have the technological wherewithal to go above ground,” Airbus’ CEO Tom Enders said.
In the coming months there is sure to be more info released by Airbus. Israeli company Urban Aeronautics and Chinese company Ehang already have functioning prototypes, so it looks like Airbus has some work to do to catch up.
