Drones Help Make Archaeological Discovery in Amazon Rain Forest

Researchers in Brazil used drones to find evidence of prehistoric settlements in the western Amazon region. The researchers said the ancient villages where covered by jungle for centuries, but are now visible by air.

Much is still unknown about the finding but this shows the power of drones in providing a much more cost effective way to survey and map land.

A research was quoted as saying, “The fact that these sites lay hidden for centuries beneath mature rainforest really challenges the idea that Amazonian forests are ‘pristine ecosystems.”
